Warren Brown is a storyteller with so much to share. A man of many talents, through his photography he displays his gift of compelling us to pause and notice the beauty of the everyday.
Warren’s interest in photography can be traced back to his teens when he began traveling on his own and wanted to document his trips for his parents.
During his travels, he began to realize that he wasn’t too concerned with photographing landmarks and capturing typical tourist shots but was more interested in recording the casual sights that most others would pass by unaware. He also discovered a love of wandering off the beaten track to learn and document more about the spirit of each location.
As his interest in photography developed and the scope of his travels expanded, he decided he needed to improve his equipment and bought his first Canon camera. His dream trip to Australia with his new equipment resulted in the present of a beautiful album of pictures for his parents and a growing interest in bettering his technical skills as a photographer, which he subsequently accomplished.
An avid traveler, for years he has been documenting his adventures around the world as well as right at home in Toronto. In an ongoing series entitled “Journeying“, he regularly shares his photos with family and friends. His loyal followers know him for posting “as it happens”, even on his walk to work.
Last summer Warren had his first major exhibit in Toronto entitled “Paris à Pas Perdus”. The collection is now showing at the Alliance Française in North York and captures his time spent in the city of Paris. According to Warren, “every street had something to admire and I loved getting lost. Some days I’d find myself wandering so far away from my intended destination just so I could discover a new story to take in”.
Although quite an accomplished photographer, Warren Brown is also passionate about assembling the life stories of others using their own collection of pictures. He finds deep satisfaction in sorting through the images and uncovering themes in the individual’s life. After organizing the photos, setting them to music, then adding captions and voice overs, he weaves together their unique journey. These presentations are often prepared for milestones and special events and, for this born storyteller, creating them is as thrilling as sharing his own journey.
Warren’s beautiful images are, much like the man himself, warm and soulful. His photography brings life and interest to any space, along with a gentle nudge to take a closer look at what is around you.
