I’m so in love with these Easter egg candles which I spotted in the April 2012 issue of Chatelaine magazine.
As much as I love decor, I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of themed or seasonal decorations which can only be displayed for a few weeks each year and then take up precious closet space for the rest of the year. So, besides their elegance, I love how these egg candles are so sweet and simple that they can easily be made from year to year.
Here’s how you make them:
1. Melt shredded wax in a metal container over a double boiler.
2. Pour melted wax into empty eggshells.
3. After 3 to 5 minutes, when wax is partly set, insert a birthday candle.
4. Place in eggs cups (or napkin rings as above).
The trickiest part is cracking the eggs near the tops, but after that you’re on your way.
Enjoy!
