When I first saw this vignette a couple of months ago, I was drawn to the simple, rustic charm of the tent. It’s such a fun idea for kids plus it’s easy to put up and take down, can be used indoors or out, and since it can be stored flat, it’s easy to hide under a bed if need be.
A few weeks later I saw a DIY project at Lowe’s with a very similar look…

I was leafing through a stack of old magazines today and came across some handy decorating tips which were attributed to well-known designers. Although I don’t usually believe in decorating rules as such, I thought I would share some of them with you as I often find it’s useful to have a starting point or some good rules of thumb to refer to when working on projects around the home.

While visiting the Ann Arbor Art Fair last week, I stumbled upon a beautiful store called Four Directions. It’s filled with exquisite natural treasures from around the world such as the sparkling beauties above. Always a fan of bringing the outdoors in, I am enamoured with the idea of adding hits of natural, earthly glamour around my home.

A close friend of mine is fortunate to be visiting Copenhagen this month. He’s been touring around, getting to know the city and came across Normann Copenhagen, a lifestyle store filled with some really interesting Scandinavian designs. I’m really glad he brought this shop to my attention because I always enjoy taking a look at design around the world, it gets my creative juices going and gives me a fresh perspective on decorating and design.
