Although this colorful, modern room appears quite simple, there are many great ideas of which to take note.
First, furniture in neutral tones, like white in this case, is very versatile and therefore easier to decorate around as trends change over the long run.
Second, use color to help create the mood of a room. This yellow, blue, orange and white palette is cheerful and fun — the perfect mood for a children’s room.
Third, painting the ceiling a color other than white adds another dimension (as well as some interest) to your space. Paint tricks can make a low ceiling appear higher and one that’s too high seem lower.
Fourth, you can mix patterns successfully. In this case, the patterns are all geometric but the key is to vary their scale. The stripes are the biggest and boldest, the polka dots are smaller, the sheets have an even smaller, softer pattern and the floor rug has hexagons.
Last, but not least, throw in one unexpected element. In this case I would say it’s the rug. More muted shades make it stand out slightly from the rest of the room but it still grounds the room and makes it less predictable.

Cool room. I really like the bright stripes alternating with white.
