A close friend of mine is fortunate to be visiting Copenhagen this month. He’s been touring around, getting to know the city and came across Normann Copenhagen, a lifestyle store filled with some really interesting Scandinavian designs. I’m really glad he brought this shop to my attention because I always enjoy taking a look at design around the world, it gets my creative juices going and gives me a fresh perspective on decorating and design.
The Bau pendant light above, is very interesting. It’s made of Basswood discs and is quite edgy and sophisticated but yet somehow it reminds me of a cloud. It also comes in a bright multicolored option, but I think it would be fun to have it in blue, gray or white and accentuate its semblance to a cloud.
Now, if I could only buy one thing in this store it would be this Grass vase. At first glance it seems like such a whimsical idea, but isn’t this the way flowers usually appear in nature? I would be so happy to have a few of these along a window sill.
This coat rack resembing a tangled mess of hangers is a great way to add humor and interest to an entrance. It’s a little maddening to look at but is full of personality.
The Swing vase is a sculptural piece of art, with or without flowers. It’s made of glass, comes in three sizes and is offered in a range of colors.
This pendant light reminds me of an old schoolhouse bell and is just perfect in its simplicity. It’s easy to imagine in a farmhouse kitchen but I’d love to put it in a modern one too as it has a nice softness to go with its clean lines.
Last, but not least, how can you resist this “Watch Me” clock? Made to resemble a fan of color swatches, it’s a great way to add a dose of color and style to your wall. This piece won’t be available until August, but will be sold in a variety of color combinations. If you can’t wait until August, I think I can sniff a DIY project right here.
If any of these items caught your eye and, like me, you aren’t able to make it to Copenhagen this summer, Normann Copenhagen ships internationally.
