While visiting the Ann Arbor Art Fair last week, I stumbled upon a beautiful store called Four Directions. It’s filled with exquisite natural treasures from around the world such as the sparkling beauties above. Always a fan of bringing the outdoors in, I am enamoured with the idea of adding hits of natural, earthly glamour around my home.
It isn’t a huge store, but it’s filled with so many interesting pieces of jewelery, minerals, fossils and home decor – like these “worry stones”. I would love a small bowl of these on my bedside table.
The bench below was created from petrified wood, which means the wood has essentially turned into stone. I’d never heard of that before, isn’t that neat?

These pieces are made from onyx and I’m drawn to their soft patterns and coloring.

Love these calcite stones in all their natural glory.

These interesting spirals are ammonite fossils.

Have you heard of quartz geodes? They’re hollow stones which are lined with sparkling mineral crystals. I was really impressed with their presentation in this hollowed out log. Imagine how delightful it would be to crack open an old brown stone and find some gems!

Last, but not least, is this rich pink agate. I’ve never seen more gorgeous bookends, and I wish I could have brought them home.

Mother nature always does it best, doesn’t she?
